Blowin in the Wind by uberfischer Blowin in the Wind by uberfischer
NOTE: You can buy this as a print and help me buy a new pair of lee-filters (reason described below) Call it a good cause :-) www.theuntappedsource.com/details.php?prodId=11308

This was a pretty cool evening, literally. I put the climbing skins on my skis and started the long climb towards the peak. As i left the forest i quickly became aware of the wind. It was furious! It came right down the mountain with full force...straight in my face. I struggled for about an hour climbing with a damn hurricane in my face.

I reached the area i had in mind. Despite a clear blue sky, snow was everywhere. The whole mountain was a white monster. Finally!! I knew that i had the chance...finally i had the chance to get the wintershot of my dreams. I spent a few hours on the mountain looking for compositions and openings with regards to the wind. I promise you..this was NOT an easy shot.

This is my favourite from the trip. If i were to choose 1 pic from my portfolio that i was really happy with...this is it. This is a shot that defines me and my photographic taste more than any other shots. Like my close friend Håkon said...screw the aurora borealis. This is the shit...I managed to get the sweeping snow just as i wanted it. The location is stunning, with a fantastic view and the light was magical.

The downside; 10 seconds before i shot this one, 2 of my lee-filters blew out of my hand and within two seconds they were long gone. The edge you see here is followed by a dramatic drop. I watched my filters fly like two birds over that edge... I`m just glad i saved my 0.9 filter, since thats the one i use 90% of the time.

But i honestly feel that it was worth it....

I`ll dig out the exact exif later. But i used a 0.9 soft lee grad & polarizer.

Hope you like it...

This is so beautiful. Naked nature. You didn't photoshop this, right? I don't think so.

I live in a Southern state in the US, so I get an inch of snow, if that much, that melts within a few hours.

This photo makes me want to go hike up a mountain just to see something as beautiful as this.

This is an absolutely gorgeous shot. I love it.

I can only agree wholeheartedly with you on this one! A truly stunning capture!

All the hard work and struggle do tend to pay off in the end. And sometimes there is some small token to give to the mountain guarding deities too. :)

Hehe, maybe! :)

I would not be sure though, if we could much cheat in this area, and say next time bring some old, broken el-cheapo tripod bought in convenience store for 20eur or something like that, and sacrifice it ritually. It gotta be real quality stuff. :D

p.s. me still having those old Cokin filters gathering dust, i doubt those would work i a similar way :(
